Zanzibar Island

Zanzibar holiday packages allow travellers to immerse themselves in a tropical mix of palm-fringed beaches, turquoise seas, and exotic cultures. Zanzibar, located off the coast of Tanzania, is a romantic Indian Ocean island paradise that has remained relatively untouched. It’s the largest coral island off Africa’s coast, and it’s known for its centuries-old sailing dhows, ornately carved wooden doors, and the intoxicating scent of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg – which is why we call it “Spice Island.”

Stone Town, the oldest part of Zanzibar, is home to 45 mosques, the Slave Market, the Old Fort, Dr Livingstone’s House, and the Zanzibar Marubhi Palace ruins. The surrounding islands provide additional exploration opportunities for the intrepid at heart.

What do in Zanzibar

Our Zanzibar holiday packages offer unforgettable experiences — whether travellers spend their days lounging by the pool, sipping cocktails on the beach at sunset, diving, or taking a Dhow cruise around small islands. Here are some of the activities travellers can enjoy with our Zanzibar holiday packages.

Diving
Zanzibar has excellent diving opportunities due to the surrounding living reefs, making our Zanzibar holiday packages extra special. There are numerous locations where the water temperature is warm, visibility is generally great, and currents are weak, making them ideal for first-time and novice divers. There are many challenging dives in addition to the warm and still waters full of colourful fish. There are dive companies in Zanzibar that can help you surf the current through a ravine, explore deep water, or search for wrecks. Many of Zanzibar’s larger resorts on the north and east coasts also have professionally run dive shops. Divers must provide certification as well as a log book.
Shopping
Stone Town has a lot to offer the devoted shopper, from pristine, eco-friendly fashion boutiques to the boisterous market on Creek Street. Stone Town is a terrific spot for fun shopping and finding excellent deals, whether you’re looking for T-shirts, spices, kangas, furniture, or hand-sewn pillow covers. There are enough Tinga-tinga paintings, woodcarvings, and woven goods to satisfy practically everyone in the market.
Zanzibar Beaches

Zanzibar has a mystical allure that can be felt all around the archipelago. If drinking cocktails on white-sand beaches under swaying palm trees has been a dream of yours, now is the time to book your flight. The island’s nicest beaches can be located all around the shore.

Stone Town
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001, SStone Town is Zanzibar’s iconic heart, a perplexing maze of streets and alleyways that form the island’s westernmost tip. The island’s bustling capital now has a population of about a quarter-million people but forgotten in the tangle of Stone Town’s narrow streets, it’s easy to imagine yourself gliding back in time. As you dodge tinkling coffee carts and slip past intricately carved doors, twisting passages unfurl beneath dainty balconies. The buildings tower overhead at three and four stories, leaving only a ribbon of sky between wafting laundry and open shutters. A tour of the town is highly recommended. Spices, seaweed, and exquisite raffia are all exported from Zanzibar. It also produces a lot of fishing and dugout canoes. Tourism is a significant source of foreign currency.

Tours
There are numerous tours available to help travellers explore this one-of-a-kind island. It is best to stick with reputable operators rather than being enticed by beach boys and vendors who prey on tourists by promising low prices. Spice tours can be booked through Zanzibar Experiences, as well as many other tours that offer a fascinating insight into the island. There are a variety of tours available, some of which include lunch and/or spice cooking classes, but all of which include the opportunity to go out into the still active plantations and see touch, and taste Zanzibar’s many spices in their natural environment. Adding a tour to our Zanzibar holiday packages is a great way to enjoy more of Spice Island. Our Safari Blue Tour is a full-day excursion that takes you out into Menai Bay, a haven of beautiful uninhabited islands where humpback and bottlenose dolphins frequent the waters. The anchor is dropped on a sandbank, providing excellent snorkelling opportunities. Drinks are available all day, and lunch consists of a buffet of grilled fish, lobster, calamari, and chicken. Make sure to include this in your itinerary. Narrow streets wind between century-old buildings, leading to attractive bazaars filled with carpenters, jewellers, hawkers, tailors, and coffee vendors. A protective reef extends along the island’s eastern shore, and it’s as gorgeous as it is effective.
